(1485 - 1547)Conquistador Hernan Cortes was introduced to chocolatl by the Aztec Emperor Montezuma II. When Cortes returned from Mexico to Spain in 1528, his galleons were laden with cocoa beans and chocolate-drink-making equipment. However, the first introduction of chocolate to the "Old World" is credited to Christopher Columbus.
